Thursday 22nd of April
Over the last few years in England Pub Quizes have become a popular form of evening entertainment. some pubs have quizes for their own regulars, some organise tournaments in which the local team competes against teams from other pubs and the events can be very entertaining and at times very competetive!
Following three successful Pub Night evenings over the past few years this time we decided to do it style and asked our friends at the Pub in Via Sapri if we could hold a Pub Quiz there.this was great as we were able to order food from the excellent and very reasonable menu on offer. The questiions were particularly difficult this year so sorry about that but congratulations to our winning team, Wales, i.e. Massimo, Marina, Simone, Giorgio, Francesca and Roseanna. We hope to have photos and pdfs of all of the questions you faced with the answers as soon as our tame web designer Lorenzo has a minute between exams!
On Friday 19th March we celebrated St Patrick's Night with an Irish supper of Langoustine quiche, Fish Chowder and Soda Bread along with many other delicious dishes brought by our guests. we had a great time singing Irish traditional songs, eating and drinking.
January 22 Burns Night
Burns Night was one long toast! we had a lot of fun and a sit-down dinner was a little different from our usual soireés.
Thanks to everyone who took part and helped to make it a fun evening, and sorry about the "old traditions" we invented just to see if you would fall for them!
Happy New Year!
We hope to see you at all of the events we have on the agenda for 2010. Check the Calendar of Social Events for times and dates of upcoming evenings and encounters. Any suggestions for additional social evenings would be very welcome, just send an e-mail to
info@english-link.org.
We would also like to encourage you to find out about the programme of films in English (subtitled in Italian) being shown at the Cinema Nuovo in Via Colombo (Phone 0187 244222) there's an exciting selection of films and it's a great way to improve your comprehension skills if you're a student of English.
